2023 Nissan Maxima: Might be Replaced by EV Model
2023 Nissan Maxima – The Nissan Maxima, according to the story, had to be replaced by an EV inspired by the IMs concept revealed at the Detroit 2019 auto show. This means that Maxima as we know it will end. The new car is likely to be launched in the second half of 2022 for the 2023 model year.
As for SUVs, Nissan Kicks will be updated in the first six months of 2021. Nissan’s hybrid e-Power technology may be offered sometime after that. We’ve all seen the new Nissan Rogue and it will be available before the end of this year.

Nissan is in a critical phase where too many of its products are now old, or no longer competitive. Some of them have received updates in the last year or two but that won’t be enough.
Nissan has introduced the Ariya electric SUV. This is an indication of the direction of the company’s products in the future but not all vehicles will be electric “overnight”. Many current models will be greatly improved while others will be dropped or replaced.
The report suggests that offensive products will update nearly 70% of Nissan’s portfolio within a year and reduce the average age of vehicles from five to three years.
Updates have begun for sedans where Altima and Sentra are all new and have to last for a while. Versa has just been redesigned but its future beyond 2022 is uncertain. Versa is no longer offered in Canada and Micra’s last model year was 2020.
The Nissan Z car will return as a new offering in the first half of 2022 and the new next-generation GT-R, perhaps as a high-performance hybrid, could arrive in 2023. The redesigned LEAF must also break the cover by 2023.
The Nissan Rogue Sport, or Qashqai in Canada, though new from recent upgrades, may last longer because dealers have told Automotive News that “This model is getting lost between Rogue and Kicks,”
Both Murano and Pathfinder have lost ground to the competition in their respective segments. The new pathfinder, which is not recognized from the current version, will arrive in the first half of 2021. It will retain the 3.5-liter V6 but the CVT trench supports a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The next-generation Murano is expected to arrive in 2022 and possibly get a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to replace its V6.
Nissan trucks will also be updated. The fleet should be refreshed for next year and will resemble the Patrol, a very popular SUV sold elsewhere in the world. The new Frontier is planned for the second half of 2021, more than 17 years after the last reshuffle. Full futuristic design has been associated with the redesign. It will feature a 310 horsepower 3.8-liter V6.
The future of the full-size Titan is uncertain. It has undergone some changes recently but its low sales volume (1.2% share of the full-size pickup segment) may not be enough to keep it running.
A few months ago Nissan released details of its turnaround plan, which will see the brand introduce 12 new models globally, but at the same time, 14 models will be discontinued. As part of its plan, Nissan will also commit to a shorter three-year life cycle for its core models, rather than the current five-year strategy.
But what does Nissan plan for the rest of its lineup? Starting with the flagship Maxima, it is possible that it may be replaced by a fully electric sedan inspired by the ED “high sports sedan” concept and it could arrive as early as the second half of 2022 for the 2023 model year.

Before the Maxima replacement arrives, Nissan will release a successor to the 370Z, which is pegged to be called the 400Z. Nissan recently released its next-generation Z teaser, which borrows many style cues from the past.
Nissan is also working on the next-generation GT-R, which may arrive in 2023. The next generation pathfinder is expected to debut in the first half of 2021, which will then be followed by the new Murano. Don’t forget also about the next Frontier pickup truck, which is scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2021.
As for the other Nissan sedan lineup, it is possible that Versa will disappear after the current generation because buyers in the U.S. do not want a small sedan. Altima is expected to get a facelift in 2022 and Sentra will get an update in 2023.
