As a five-passenger subcompact sedan with an affordable starting price, the Nissan Versa is a strong choice for buyers on a tight budget. It received a full redesign in 2021, making it one of the newcomers to the class. It produces only 122 horsepower but is estimated by the EPA to return up to 35 mpg, better than the average for the class.

Since Versa has just been redesigned, we don’t expect much change for 2022. That means if you consider one, there may be no reason not to get Versa 2021. There is little chance that the Versa Note (hatchback version of this sedan) will debut in 2021, but there is no confirmation from Nissan at this point. Visually, the redesigned Nissan Versa is nothing short of stunning for its class with a tilting hood, a bold V-motion grille, sweeping headlights, sharp body folds, and a floating roof design. While it may still be modest in its lowest trim level, climbing the stairs to the midrange and higher values add some style with alloy wheels and other enhancements. Since this look is new and has gone well with buyers and critics, we expect no visual updates for Versa 2022.

Neither IIHS nor NHTSA have tested the new generation of Versa for safety, so look forward to the official rankings. Automatic emergency braking standards across the board, the new versa generation set itself up for high ratings, but we’ll have to wait on the crash test to see where it lands.
Buyers who want additional security to have blind-spot monitors and rear traffic alerts can get these standards in SV and higher trim. We expect no changes to safety equipment or scores in the Nissan Versa 2022.
2022 Nissan Versa Release Date and Price
While Nissan has yet to announce an official sales date for the 2022 Versa, based on its previous release date, we expect it to arrive by the end of 2021.
The official price for this subcompact sedan is not yet available, but without any upcoming changes, we expect the price to remain close to the current MSRP range of $17,295 to $19,135.
