2025 Nissan GTR: How Does It Look?

2025 Nissan GTR

Released around 1968, the first GT-R model barely looked like the titan we saw, but its range has come a long way.

The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R – is a myth and legend, but Nissan turned the dial in Godzilla further for 2007 to make the R35 installment essentially a supercar with all-wheel drive and very fast dual-clutch transmission.

Now, 15 years later, design, style, performance, and engineering have all changed. However, the stat sheet of the last generation GT-R’s 600 hp and 481 lb-ft torque still looks impressive today.

The Nissan GT-R is still on sale, despite being sold out in 2022. On the Nissan USA website, it is no longer possible to order this set of supercar keys on its own. However, designers still need to speculate about the future of the 2025 Nissan GT-R.

It’s time for Japanese sports cars to line up to tidy up, such as the Nissan 300ZX of the 90s that turned into the 350Z, then the 370Z, and finally become the new and current Nissan Z 2023 sports car.

With its junior sports car – the Nissan Z – looking sharp and powered by 400 hp, it’s high time the GT-R gets a modern makeover.

In exclusive renderings, it returns with the fundamental design ethos of the current R35, albeit in a bold, angular format.

In front, the style is reminiscent of an incumbent sports car, but the grille is large. It extends to the front lip, and the headlights look fantastic and are slightly smaller. Perhaps the gaping mouth was inspired by the ‘Z’ car being produced.

The body looks like the current GT-R but undergoes a thicker, angular transformation. We particularly liked the vents in the front wheel arches, but the drama improved significantly at the rear.

Around the rear are LEDs in a familiar format with a large back reminiscent of the current GT-R. However, it looks angular, even truncated, with a quad exhaust, indicating that this is a gasoline-powered monster.

Let’s hope that if and when Nissan launches the new GT-R, it gives fans a decent engine for JDM’s legendary sports car.

2025 Nissan GTR Engine

Between conversations, something has yet to be heard about the next-generation Nissan GT-R getting a new engine.

We have every reason to believe that the 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V-6 will continue to be Godzilla’s leading source of motivation.

Like the R35, the VR38 engine has received many changes over its 15-year production life. Almost every year, there is an increase until the engine power increases from 480 to 600 horsepower (353 to 441 kilowatts).

With a continuous boost for fewer emissions, the next iteration of the GT-R, the twin-turbo V-6, is likely to receive direct fuel injection, such as its smaller sibling, the VR30 DDTT, and a gasoline particulate filter (PPF).

R36 GT-R and Hybridization

Nissan has dabbled in hybridization for high-performance and motorsports applications, albeit with mixed success, at the 2014 Nissan GT-R LM Nismo, which recovered energy from the flywheel of a race car.

Regardless, the system proved too complicated, meaning the hybrid GT-R would likely use a similar setup to the Acura NSX.

This is the real kicker. Although it has not been confirmed, it is possible that Nissan Ariya’s 217-horsepower electric motor could end up in the R36 GT-R.

The 3.8-liter, twin-turbo engine will still drive the rear and possibly front wheels through the revised ATTESA E-TS, an all-wheel-drive system, but the same electric motor will probably go the GT’s next front wheel.

This coincides with previous rumors about the future GT-R having nearly 800 horsepower (588 kilowatts).

Nissan GTR Price

The GT-R remains a much more affordable alternative to the 911 Turbo and the Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren models.

In 2008, the Nissan GT-R R35 started at $60,000, while the 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo would set you back $130,000.

Fast forward to the present, and the R35 GT-R will set you back about $115,000. That’s still cheap considering its main rival, the 911 Turbo, currently starts at $174,300.

Regardless of what Nissan produces, the Next GT-R will likely stay within the $150,000 mark.

Supercars with V-6 hybrid powertrains, such as the $237,000 McLaren Artura and the $321,000 Ferrari 286 GTB, ensure that the Godzilla hybrid will continue to be the best in its segment.
