2022 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X

2022 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X – Nissan Frontier 2022 is fashionable late to the modern mid-size pickup party, but bold bodywork, futuristic faces, and the adoption of popular technology could make it a new model.

While its blistered fenders are inspired by the original Nissan Hardbody compact truck, we’re happy to report that Frontier no longer looks like a blast of the past—its predecessor has largely been unchanged for 16 years.

What’s New for 2022?

Nissan finally launched the third-generation Frontier for the 2022 model year. Sure, it’s still driving a skeleton that dates back to the early 2000s, but the suspension has been revised, and the other truck parts are much better.

2022 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X Engine

The 2022 Frontier inherited the naturally-sucked 3.8-liter V-6 that debuted on the last generation 2020 model. The engine produces 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or four.

We tested this powertrain on the Frontier Pro-4X 2020 and saw no noticeable performance improvements compared to the replaced engines, but we will give an assessment until we try it out in the latest trucks.

Frontier Towing Capacity

Frontier’s crane capacity reaches the same 6,720 pounds as previous generations, meaning it still outperforms competitors such as the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Jeep Gladiator — all of which can attract at least 7,650 pounds. Nissan’s maximum payload did increase by 160 pounds, to 1,610 pounds.

Frontier Fuel Economy

Nissan has not announced its fuel economy forecast for 2022 Frontier. But since it has the same V-6 powertrain that motivated previous generations, you can expect to see about 18 mpg of city and 24 mpg highway.

Once the official figures are released, and we can run the new Frontier on our 75 mph highway route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, we can evaluate real-world fuel savings. For more information on Frontier’s fuel economy, visit the EPA website.

2022 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X Interior

Frontier’s new interior redesign looks to be a major upgrade from the old-fashioned, plastic-laden cabins that plagued its predecessors. Not only did Nissan add sweeter trim pieces and surfaces with a much-needed soft touch, but the automaker also introduced more contemporary features.

The instrument group now has a larger color display to compensate for analog meters. Heating for the steering wheel and front seats is also available. Frontier continues to entertain our backsides with Nissan’s supple Zero Gravity throne.

Interior cubby storage includes a trash can above the dashboard and a place to store items under the back seat. The truck offers two wheelbase lengths that each support a short and long cargo bed. The first measures just under five feet, and the last extends over six.

Frontier comes with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen, but a 9.0-inch screen is available. Under the screen, Nissan provides a physical knob for volume and stereo tuning. features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as well as several charging outlets, one of which is a USB-C port.

The Frontier obtained subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspots and wireless smartphone charging. buyers can upgrade the sound system to a nine-speaker Fender unit for an additional fee.

The Nissan Hardbody inspired the 2022 Frontier’s good looks and a truck made and driven by car manufacturers in the 1980s and 90s.

The aggressive front has a large grille and a protruding hood. A different headlight design was also applied to other new Nissans. Wide, raised shapes, high shoulder lines, and vertical fenders further contribute to a bold new look, especially compared to the softer, rounder look of older trucks.

The rear continues the engine’s look with a taillight that looks as if it was attached to the body of the car. a muscular look to put forward toughness. Some of the new paint colors include Tactical Green Metallic and Boulder Grey Pearl.

The 5-foot-tall bed is standard on all Crew Cab models, while the Crew Cab SV Long Wheelbase model can be fitted with a 6-foot bed, which is standard on all King Cab trims.

Buyers who choose the 2WD and 4WD Pro-4X off-road focus variants that focus on off-road will be treated further with standard LED headlights, daytime running lights, fog lights, and hot Lava Red body accents.

The only engine on offer is the naturally sucked 3.8-liter V6, carried from last year, with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque.

The 9-speed automatic transmission directs power forward or all four wheels. Nissan says it has re-tuned frontier hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering gears while the front and rear suspensions provide best-in-class driving and handling, both on the highway and off the road.

The 4WD model has a shift-on-the-fly system with 2WD/4HI/4LO mode. This variant can also be equipped with a limited skid system that can increase power transfer to the wheel. Regardless of the variant or trim drive, all Frontiers accept the standard Hill Start Assist, while the Hill Descent Control is standard on the 4WD model.

Serious off-road enthusiasts will be attracted to the PRO-4X variant thanks to Bilstein’s standard off-road shock, electronic locking differential, and skid plates at the bottom of the car body. The total towing capacity is 6,720 pounds if properly equipped. Trailer Sway Control is a handy new standard system.

Nissan Intelligent Around View Monitor, complete with Moving Object Detection and Off-Road mode, is also available.

2022 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X Price

Nissan has not disclosed the current price, although sales will begin this summer. However, we expect the price to range from $27,670-$37,490. The mid-size truck segment is fairly competitive with the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon, and Toyota Tacoma, which enjoy strong sales.

The Jeep Gladiator, although relatively medium-sized, is not for everyone and is quite expensive compared to others. The Honda Ridgeline, which is heavily refurbished for 2021, doesn’t boast a traditional body-on-frame setting but is well equipped.

Nissan Frontier 2022 is long overdue, and it remains to be seen whether it can snatch sales from any of the above competitors. After all, the new Frontier seems to tick all the right boxes, and those looking for a high-capable and reliable medium truck should definitely take a closer look.
