2022 Nissan Navara Redesign, New Model – According to widespread speculation, Navara 2022 will involve fresh sheet metal to the front of the windshield to tighten the force against larger rivals such as the Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max. Previews were teased back in May after Nissan announced business plans for 2023.

However, this facelift will be a stop-gap exercise only, like the completely new Navara is currently being developed by Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) under the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, with electrification said to play a big role.

it should be noted that Frontier for the US and Frontier destined for other markets are different animals under the skin. This is more than evident in the “A to Z” video teaser, although both mid-size trucks feature similar lighting signatures upfront.

Code-named D23 and known as the NP300 series, the third generation Navara has been with us since 2014 with a four-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual, and a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Nissan Navara Features

Nissan is updating pickups for the 2020 model year with twin-turbo diesel power as standard in Europe, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-stage coil spring for the multi-link rear suspension, four-angle disc brakes, and payload capacity of up to 45 kilograms (100 pounds).

“Navara is now in 109 markets around the world,” LCV director Paolo D’Ettore said last year, but the Japanese car manufacturer was losing ground on the Old Continent.

Last year, for example, the Navara ranked fourth with 18,515 sales to its name while the first three places were taken by the Ford Ranger (52,543 units), Toyota Hilux (26,562), and Mitsubishi L200 (21,487).

As we have described in other recent reports, MMC has taken on a major development of the next generation medium-sized trucks that will replace the Triton/L200 and Navara today, which is believed to include gasoline-electric powertrains.

We also understand that there will be very little visual differentiation between the two branded trucks, as the Alliance seeks to save billions of dollars over the next few years.

Still in style, retired MMC design vice president Tsunehiro Kunimoto told CarsGuide at the Tokyo Show last year that the next generation pick-up had been made with a look that would appeal to Australian consumers, and thus would increase and grow in size much compared to the current version.

While not specifically pointing to Triton’s next final look, the wild Mi-Tech concept nose of Tokyo’s 2019 MMC show stand may reveal where the company is heading with its future style theme.

2022 Nissan Navara Release Date

Meanwhile, a return to the Navara facelift 2022 is likely to come next year, with Nissan in late May announcing the closure of its Barcelona, Spain manufacturing facility that assembles the Mercedes-Benz X-Class based on the D23 Navara. It has been suggested that at least some facelift versions manufactured in Thailand could take the last wholesale chassis upgrade applied by Daimler to improve refinement, steering, handling, and ride attributes.
