2024 Nissan GTR – The Next GT-R will take style inspiration from flashy vehicles. However, the R35 is still here, getting older and more expensive.
The R36 is reportedly still in discussions, with Nissan yet to decide whether the car will be hybrid or fully electric.

GT-R program head Hiroshi Tamura gives some clues as to where the GT-R’s next trip is at the moment.
Although Tamura-san didn’t reveal much at this stage, it’s pretty clear that we won’t be seeing a production car for years. So, does that mean the world will lose the GT-R after the R35 stops being made? Not necessarily.
Pointing out that the R32, R33, and R34 Skyline GT-R generation is almost the same car underneath, Tamura-san reckons the R35 can last for 20 years.
The R35’s production life may be extended enough to sell shortly before the R36 arrives in showrooms.
The only problem for Tamura-san, who is 58 years old, is that it will come after the mandatory retirement age of 60 years. He will make a decision early in the next life of the car before handing the baton to someone else.
When will the next generation GT-R arrive? A report last year pegged it for 2023 or 2024. It is unclear where the new GT-R will be placed on the spectrum between intent and a full production car.
Like the new Z car, Nissan is expected to introduce the GT-R concept—from a non-wearable variation—before the production car.
The T-Spec effectively marks the end of the GT-R’s journey in Australia, where Nissan will be unable to sell any more cars from November 1, 2021.
Stricter side-crash test regulations (ADR 85) came into effect that day for vehicles launched before November 2017. The GT-R certainly fits that bill, introduced Down Under in April 2009.
The combination of the 50 T-Spec and Nismo special edition is reserved for the local market, with details likely to be announced in the following weeks.
The GT-R (R35) will continue outside Australia for an unspecified time, with rumors that the GT-R (R35) will last until 2024 and could get a lightweight hybrid powertrain as well as the Final Edition with more than 700 horsepower.

The 2021 Model starts at 193,800 AUD and rises to 378,000 AUD for the highest Nismo. Given declining sales and an aging platform, it’s no surprise that Nissan isn’t updating the GT-R to pass the upcoming side-crash test rules.
2023 Nissan GTR R-36 With a Strong Twin-Turbo V6
The Nissan GT-R has become one of the most anticipated super sports cars. Nissan has been working on a complete model redesign for its flagship sports car for a while now.
Looking back on Nissan’s history, the Skyline GT-R, which has long been an icon of Nissan’s sports car lineup, is currently on a third-generation model under the gt-R name, following the first generation from 1969 to 1973 and the second generation. Generation 1989-2002.
Fourteen years after its release in 2007, the Nissan GT-R R35 is currently one of the Japanese automaker’s vehicles with the most extended product cycle.
Nissan has made few improvements to this Japanese treasure, giving the GT-R many facelifts over the years. A new model is now long overdue.
2023 Nissan GTR R-36 Engine
BestCar was informed that the current model will be phased out in fall 2022, and a light hybrid powertrain based on the VR38DETT engine will be installed on the next model.
According to new information, despite strict emissions and noise rules in the future, the following model is being designed to accommodate turbo gasoline engines rather than light hybrid systems.
The upgraded 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine is also projected to produce 600 horsepower and 480-foot-pound of torque, similar to the current GT-R NISMO.
The electrical aid in question is thought to be the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), similar to what was used in the ill-fated GT-R LM Nismo prototype from 2015.
The KERS system in the GT-R LM race car delivers energy to a pair of crazy wheels from the front brake and can transmit that energy to the front and rear axles through an independent drive shaft.
A lightweight hybrid system is up for grabs for the R36 due to Japan’s upcoming Corporate Average Fleet Emissions (CAFE) and 2022 noise regulations.
Still, it seems Nissan’s ever-expanding e-Power hybrid lineup and all-electric models have helped with the electric case.
It, therefore, now seems the R36 will more or less follow in the footsteps of the soon-to-be-revealed Z sports car by bringing in more of its predecessor mechanics, clad by a redesigned exterior and interior.

Current models have a straight line to give the impression of luxury as a top sports car, but upcoming models can add a futuristic aspect by connecting each element with curves.
The new interior must also comply with modern technology and safety regulations and the need for a virtual dashboard and the latest of Nissan’s in-car entertainment systems.

The exterior design of the new GT-R R36 is believed to be heavily influenced by the Nissan Vision GT concept vehicle.
According to Japanese media, the long-awaited R36 may feature the R35’s body and undergo significant changes rather than making a new car from scratch, confirming that the new car may not incorporate a hybrid powertrain.
The front grille may be widened to improve cooling performance for high-performance motors. Headlights can be equipped with state-of-the-art LED technology. The back of the future GT-R could probably be based on the current model with minor changes.
2023 Nissan GTR R-36 Release Date and Price
Nissan plans to release the new GT-R around early 2023, but this may change depending on the vehicle’s research and development timing.
Before that, Nissan is likely to tease the R36 with a new image and a later debut date. Price figures are not available until Nissan introduces an almost-ready version in the future.
