2024 Nissan Altima Refresh Comes With Sporty Design

2024 Nissan Altima Refresh

2024 Nissan Altima  – A New Spy Shot reveals that Nissan is preparing to give the sedan a mid-cycle refresh that will arrive for the 2023 or 2024 model years.

Sales continue to decline, so it appears Nissan isn’t doing much for the model, despite camouflage wrap covering the front fascia, where the automaker will make most of the design changes.

Camouflage likely hides a fully revised front end that appears more aggressive than previous models. That means Nissan will likely give the Altima new headlights, a new grille, and a redesigned front bumper, making the new design flow in other car styles.

The rear is entirely open without any noticeable design differences, although that may appear later in the car’s development cycle.

2024 Nissan Altima Powertrain

The Altima’s current powertrain pair will likely remain unchanged in the redesigned model. That means the new sedan will have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or an optional four-cylinder turbo engine, though both will be mated to continuously variable transmissions.

The 2.5 liters should continue to produce the same 188 horsepower (140 kilowatts), while the turbo engine produces 248 hp (185 kW). There should be no noticeable interior changes with refreshments.

2024 Nissan Altima Interior

The Altima currently has five seats comfortably but lost some of its legroom when it moved to the current sixth-generation model. It retains decent luggage space, though, with a capacity of 15.4 cubic feet.

Altima cabin provides a simple dashboard with easy-to-use switchgear. Interior materials vary among trim levels but significantly improve compared to the previous generation Altima.

Flat-bottomed steering wheels and artificial carbon fiber are a bit much here, especially since there’s no paddle shifter or drive mode to choose from on the SV.

Soft armrests make cruising and sitting in traffic more tolerable. The front seats can accommodate various body types, but the wrist brace is too aggressive.

The large rear seats are very comfortable with ample legroom. The rear seat of the Nissan is not entirely flat and must be removed using a handle in the trunk, which is uncomfortable.

The Altima has decent storage in the front seat, with a narrow albeit deep door pocket and a handy tray at the front of the center console.

Nissan Altima Safety

The 2021 Model year comes with a well-received five-star safety rating from NHTSA and Top Safety Select from IIHS and comes with a complete suite of driver assistance technologies.

The basic trim level is equipped with driver alert monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane guard assistance, and automatic remote lights.

Move up to a higher trim level and get additional features from blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and automatic rear braking. Surround-view cameras are currently only available in the top trim.

2024 Nissan Altima Price and Release Date

There is currently no set release date; the possibility of a refresh will be revealed in mid or late 2023, so we may have to wait a long time to see what is hidden.

While there is no pricing information yet, the 2021 model currently has an MSRP of $25,525, including destination fees.

2022 is expected soon at the same price point, but the 2024 model will probably see a slight price increase.

The updated Altima is expected to compete with other popular sedans such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Kia K5, and Hyundai Sonata.

2022 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima is an innovative midsize sedan. It is a family car with sound design and engineering but without a powerful calling card to make it irresistible in its segment.

The 2022 Nissan Altima is a variable-compression turbocharged engine or VC-Turbo. Nissan says it has been working on this technology for more than a decade, and it provides V6 engine power with fuel economy from a four-cylinder engine. However, you can only get it with sporty SR trim and front-wheel drive.

2022 Nissan Altima Midnight Edition Package

The Nissan Altima family sedan rolls into the 2022 model with the new Midnight Edition optional package and updated prices.

The base 2022 Nissan Altima S starts at $25,525, including a $975 destination fee, the same price as the 2021 model.

For that money, you’ll get a four-door front-wheel drive with Nissan’s naturally aspirated four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine that matches Xtronic’s standard variable transmission continuously.

The combination produces up to 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, a figure also unchanged from the previous year’s model.

Standard gear includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, along with forwarding collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.

The biggest Altima news for 2022 is the availability of the Midnight Edition Package seen above. The $1,750 option grouping gets its name from its black exterior trim, including a gloss black sports grille, spoiler, and matching 19-inch alloy wheels, along with LED fog and black painted rearview mirrors with sein lights and embedded LED heaters.

Residents can enjoy a standard heated front seat (the driver’s seat has two-way power lumbar support), as well as the standard moonroof included.

The Midnight Edition is available only as an option on the Altima mid-range SR trim ($27,625 including shipping). The Midnight Edition is also only available with a 2.5-liter four.

All-wheel drive continues to be an option for 2022 on the Altima SV, SR, SL, and Platinum trim. Nationally, Nissan told Roadshow that about 25% of the Altima model mix powered all four wheels.

Nissan Altima  Engine

Suppose you want a more powerful 236-hp 2.0-liter VC-T engine with a new variable turbo compression technology and 267 lb-ft torque.

In that case, you can only get it at the Altima SR (MSRP: $31,875, including shipping). That’s interesting because the most luxurious and expensive Altima is Platinum, which is only available with naturally aspirated engine models that are underpowered. Platinum 2.5 liter AWD alone commanded $35,225, including shipping costs of $975.

As far as other Altima 2022 changes, the SV Premium Package also receives heated rearview mirrors with LED sein lights. Regarding equipment removal, SV and SR models lost driver seat pockets, the eight-way driver’s seat disappeared from the S Grade Driver Assistance Package, and the four-way powered passenger seat was removed from the SL model.

Nissan Altima Models

Nissan sells the 2022 Altima midsize sedan in five trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (188 horsepower, 180 lb-ft of torque) is standard, and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) delivers power to the car’s front wheels.

The all-wheel-drive system is optional for SV, SR, and SL and is standard on Platinum. With the AWD, engine output drops to 182 hp and 178 lb-ft.

The Altima SR offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 236 hp and 267 lb-ft on tap (248 hp and 273 lb-ft on 93 octane gas). This machine pairs exclusively with front-wheel drive.
