The car in the leaked image, which appears on the cars_secrets Instagram account, is the naughty Rogue-name for the X-Trail in North America and other worldwide markets. They are taken from the official brochure, and also give us some information on automobile technology.

Exterior images confirm the display of previously displayed cars in the patent sketch; The front end gets a Grill and lighting treatment that bears similarities to the smaller Juke. The SUV side gets stronger, more angle of the shoulder than the current model, while around the back, the overall shape of the lights and boot lid has a clear link to the old car, although the details look fresher and more angles than ever before.

The biggest leap forward for the X-Trail seems to be reserved for the interior, which looks set to be fully modernized in terms of design and technology. Like the Juke, the next X-Trail will move the Infotainment touch screen – now measuring up to nine inches – over the dash as a ‘ floating ‘ unit. This display is equipped with a digital instrument panel, which displays different graphical reading options for driving information. Apple CarPlay Wireless is also set to features.

The dashboard itself is above the center console which is higher and wider than in the old car. It features a smaller automatic gear selector, indicating that the next model will switch to a more modern ‘ dirt-by-wire ‘ system.

Like the upcoming third-generation Qashqai, the X-Trail will be based on the latest version of the CMF Nissan underpinnings. That means the new generation of the hybrid powertrain can be made available: one using an innovative Nissan ePower system. It is a hybrid series system that uses petrol engines to work as a generator for charging batteries, which is then the power of electric motors.

Nissan has access to use a hybrid setup plug-in that is used in Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as part of the alliance members of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, but engineers and executives have recently alienated the company from using the hybrid technology plug-in, prefer to jump straight into full electrical power whenever possible.

Nissan also recently confirmed that the new production of Nissan X-Trail will be moving from Sunderland to a major production facility company in Kyushu, Japan. The company cited production optimization, Brexit uncertainty and “changed emissions regulations ” as motivators for the upturn.

However, Nissan recently invested £400 million in the Sunderland facility, in preparation for the production of the third-generation Qashqai later this year. The factory will continue to produce Qashqai and Juke, supporting about 7,000 jobs.

The next Nissan X-Trail image has leaked online through Instagram, featuring a new SUV both inside and outside. The KIA Sorento rivals will adopt hybrid technology from 2022 in an effort to lower its overall brand of CO2 emissions. The Setup will also appear in the smaller Nissan Qashqai, and it is possible that the crossover that the Juke Nissan will follow.

The car, the naming Rogue in this image, looks familiar from the back but the front end takes inspiration from the more modern Juke brothers. It looks to inherit that the V-shaped grid of cars and sharp daytime running lights, switching round headlights to more conventional units. The high roofline indicates that the next generation X-Trail will maintain the layout of seven existing car seats.

In, the changes are even more striking. It looks as if the X-Trail will get a completely new set and fully-digital dial, with a navigation module flanked by the Rev counter on one side and Speedo on the other. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto look to features, alongside dual-zone climate control and large central touchscreen.

2022 Nissan X-Trail Technology

The Nissan news plan to shy away from the plug-in hybrid technology that supports conventional hybrid and pure-electric powertrains were reported by the title of our sister Auto Express last year. As expected, there are no additional filler hats – either in the latest leaked images, or any previous patent images that appear earlier this year.

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has a long history of hybrid powertrains. However, most of the focus is on plug-ins; Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV had a very positive impact on the company’s fate when it was re-launched in 2013, while Renault recently revealed plug-in hybrid versions of Megane and Captur small family cars.

It is unclear that Nissan’s setup will be used, but it is likely to originate from the company’s e-Power range, which is currently not sold in the UK. Mitsubishi is in the process of developing enhanced plug-in Hybrid systems for use in its Outlander replacement, but it does not think Nissan will utilize this.

If Nissan is to go to the e-Power route, the possibility of the X-Trail will only offer a very short electrical range – perhaps as little as a mile or two – instead opting to focus on lowering the load of the engine to more efficiently drive around the city. This should not affect Nissan’s ability to offer the front and four-wheel-drive options of the new X-Trail SUV.

2022 Nissan X-Trail Release Date

With the X-Trail currently approaching six years, the new version will likely be revealed later this year, with the European launch in 2022. Given the increasing pressure on producers to lower the overall CO2 emissions, Nissan was not expected to delay the launch of the hybrid model – meaning an electric e-version could appear next to the standard model from off.
