2024 Nissan Z Comes with 400-HP Twin-Turbo V-6 Engine

2024 Nissan Z – The New Nissan Z has a slick exterior style, a new powertrain, and a revised interior – although the foundation is carried from the current generation 370Z.

Although not a monster, the new Z sports car still has more power than the previous model.

Looking down the hood, you’ll find a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine pumping 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) and 350 pound-feet (475 Newton-meters) of torque.

This car does not chase numbers, nor does it care about reaching 0-60 miles/hour. Nissan is doing a lot to improve the car’s foundation while smoothing its handling.

The automaker also boosted the car’s structural rigidity, changed the suspension, and added electronic power steering.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard, which will certainly help spark a “conversation” between the driver and the car.

While a nine-speed automatic gearbox is optional, so is the limited slippage differential. Nissan says the new Z model is 15 percent faster to 60 miles per hour, with a 13 percent increase in rowing.

Although this new Nissan Z sounds very interesting, we have to be patient waiting for it to be present in the showroom. The company has not said when the sports car will go on sale.

However, considering it is a 2024 model year vehicle, there is a chance the Z will launch around the summer of the Year 2024.

That’s a safe estimate, considering the supply chain issues affecting much of the auto industry today. The price information is still unclear, and it can start from about 40,000 US dollars.

The new Nissan Z will have a 400-horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine, an estimated time of zero to 60 mph 3.5 seconds, and a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed automatic.

Nissan is keeping its lineup and roster of options simple, given that annual sales hadn’t reached 10,000 units in a decade, a far cry from the last century when annual sales approached the 100,000 mark in the best years. The 2024 entry model is Z Sport, and the upgraded model is Z Performance.

2024 Nissan Z Features

All Nissan Z has two seats, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 at the front, rear-wheel drive, LED headlights and rear lights, aluminum hood, doors, and hatchback.

Manual transmission cars get a six-speed gearbox, a close-ratio to the Nissan SynchroRev Match, replacing heel-and-toe rev-match throttle revs to match engine revs and drivetrains when downshifting.

The nine-speed automatic has an aluminum paddle shifter on the Z Sport, while performance gets a Nissan GTR-style design paddle shifter.

The acceleration is estimated to be under 4 seconds 0-60 mph and can also be as low as 3.5 seconds. It uses the same 400-horsepower VR30DDTT, the V6 engine used in the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 four-door sports sedan that reaches 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

The weight of the Nissan Z has yet to be announced. Still, it should be hundreds of kilograms lighter, as the Z is a shorter two-passenger car and has benefited from engineering advances since the aging Infiniti Q50 was launched in 2014. Finally, a competitor to match or beat would be a good Toyota Supra for a 3.8-second to 60 mph run.

2024 Nissan Z Interior

The instrument panel is a configurable 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel (configurable within Nissan parameters).

The middle stack has three free-standing analog gauges on top of the dashboard, facing the driver: turbocharger boost and turbocharger tach (rpm) and volt. Below it, in the middle stack, is an LCD infotainment screen. No head-up display is mentioned.

Higher performance, the trim line has a sport-grade exhaust, sport-tuned suspension, clutch-type limited-slip differential, 19-inch RAYS lightweight wrought alloy wheels with 255/40R19 front/275/35R19 rear Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, larger brakes, power-adjustable heated seats, leather-lined seating surfaces with synthetic suede inserts and Homelink garage controllers.

The 240-unit Proto Spec Z car—one for every four Nissan dealerships—has yellow brake calipers, bronze-colored 19-inch RAYS aluminum-alloy wheels, exclusive gear lever knobs for manual gearbox models, exclusive Proto Spec leather – seats with yellow accents, Suede Proto Spec plus fabric door trim with yellow stitching and custom Proto Spec interior stitching.

The Model Z Performance adds interior upgrades, such as heated leather seats and an eight-speaker Bose stereo system, two more than the Sport audio setup.

Still, most packages contain actual performance fixtures: stiffer suspension, limited-slip differential, and more powerful. Brake.

A four-piston caliper grips a 14.0-inch rotor in the front, while a two-piston caliper clamp a 13.8-inch rear rotor.

In another reference to the 240Z, the interior middle array features three analog gauges arranged in a pod tilted toward the driver.

One for the boost, one for the voltmeter, and the third is a tachometer for the turbocharger. Featuring a scalable turbine speed, the turbo tach will tell the driver whether the turbo is just lazing around at a stable 220,000 rpm or close to a maximum of 240,000 rpm.

Other captions for past Zs include rear lights (shades of the 1990s Z32 300ZX), short deck proportions, and basic long hoods.

Infotainment and Driver Assistance

Sport gets an 8-inch center screen, Bluetooth, satellite radio, dual USB jack; Performance gets a 9-inch screen with eight-speaker Bose audio, active noise cancellation (for road noise), and increased dynamic sound (to amplify engine sound). Nissan Connect telematics with WiFi is available.

2024 Nissan Z Safety

Standard driver safety and assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning with rear traffic warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and front and rear parking sensors.

But the 2024 Z doesn’t seem to have the Nissan Safety Shield 360’s safety range, which also requires automatic high beam control and rear braking.

Is the 2024 Nissan Z worth buying?

For those who want a two-seat sports car that’s prime-priced, the 2024 Z has the features and potential to be that sports car for the middle of the decade.

It will be newer than the Toyota Supra, a joint engineering and production venture with BMW, supplying two engines and making cars. BMW seems less interested in two-seat sports cars than Toyota.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a classic sports car with a low-power engine, but Mazda says, “It’s more fun to drive a slow-fast car than a fast-slow car.”

The Fiat 124, the brother of the MX-5, was discontinued after the 2020 model year. The 2022 Subaru BRZ, announced soon, is expected to have about 50 more horsepower than the 181-horsepower Miata and 150 less horsepower than the 2023 Z.

The Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro are more competitive with each other than the Z or supra.

2024 Nissan Z Performance

Performance replaces the 18-inch Sport wheels with lightweight forged 19-inch Rays wheels using Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, 255s at the front and 275s at the back.

In addition to the unique alloy wheels and red-painted brake calipers, performance trim is visually distinguished by front and rear spoilers as well as double exhaust (and perhaps aura-distinguished by its more loud exhaust, though we’ve never heard of it). The automatic launch control function is also limited to the Performance model.

On top of performance, and essentially serving as the launch edition, the Proto Spec is a Z Performance that wears the color scheme of the Proto Z concept car—yellow paint, black roof, bronze alloy wheels, and yellow brake calipers.

The Wiz Khalifa-approved color scheme continues on the inside, with black seats and stitching and yellow accents. Manual cars also get special knob shifts. For the first Z car of all, Nissan will only make 240 Proto Specs.
